Our Baby Otter

Baby Clara Ziegler of Austin continues to grow into her cuteness this second week of her life, but according to her mom, she’s got a way to go.
Clara was born in the 39th week, as opposed to her now one-year-old sister, Ezme—who was born in the 44th week.
Clara’s mom, Mariah, said yesterday that the newborn is still in that ‘grumpy old man/baby otter’ phase.
Judging from this picture, provided by her mom, I would say … the latter…

…now, I know what you’re saying, “That’s just wrong.”
But Clara seems to take it all in good humor.
(If you’re going to be in our family, you gotta have the humor thing going…)

Popping More Family Buttons

Rochelle Louise Hale was recently awarded the highest of these AP Honors ...

The AP Program offers several AP Scholar Awards to recognize high school students who have demonstrated college-level achievement through AP courses and exams.

Award levels:
AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
AP Scholar with Honor: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Rochelle, who is technically a 12th grader, has no further AP courses she can take, so she's not attending high school any longer.

She's taking several courses at a local community college in Seattle, does plan to be there when her high school class graduates next June, then will enroll in whichever institution of higher learning offers her the best scholarship package.

It will most likely be the University of Washington in Seattle Or Western Washington University in Bellingham.

We're rooting for Washington University in St. Louis.

Our First Movie Review

We recently saw the above movie poster promoting the new movie, "My Old Lady," starring Maggie Smith and Kevin Kline.

Two of our favorite actors. We thought, "What a treat! That'll be a million laughs!" How wrong we were.

Here's my review: "A Giant Vat of Freudian Crapola!"

I very much doubt you'll see that in any upcoming print ads for the film.
